How to Survive Eclipse Season

If you pay attention to the moon, you've probably noticed that everything gets a little hard/weird/emotional/chaotic/transformational during eclipse season. Eclipses are points of amplification and closure around the 6-month journey we've been on since the last eclipse season. Sometimes, this means abundance and joy; other times, this means frustration and endings, but whatever happens, it's going to cause some big feelings. The question is, how do we create space to move through these emotions when we've got businesses to run? Over the past three years in business, I've cultivated a few practices that help me survive eclipse season.

One - Take time off

Since 2023, I've taken most eclipse days off as a personal holiday. This has allowed me to take the day to cry, journal, meditate, scream, create, and dream. Sometimes I end up feeling inspired and driven on the day of an eclipse, and I end up working on my business, and other times I feel totally drained and need to sleep all day. Either way, this practice has helped me to enjoy the eclipse season and take the time I need to process everything that comes up throughout the eclipse season.

Two - Plan ahead & expect the unexpected
People are always concerned about Mercury Retrograde, but I find that the most unexpected things come up in business during eclipse season (by the way, throughout April we're dealing with Mercury Retrograde & eclipse season so bonus surprises)! To prepare for eclipse seasons, I try to get well ahead on work in case I need to take any unexpected time off or a project takes longer than expected.

Three - Take care of your body

Your body is your home. When you take care of it, everything gets easier. Go to sleep a little early, drink some extra water, eat some yummy veggies, get a massage, or take a bath. Whatever you can do during this time to nourish and pamper your body is the right choice.

Four - Cultivate empathy for yourself & others

Emotions will be coming up. People are likely going to be dealing with hard things right now, and it's important to remember that everyone is trying their best (including you). Hold empathy and patience for yourself first, and then extend that energy to the people around you. Take a deep breath (or maybe a nap) before hitting send. Your future self will thank you.

Five - Take note of the patterns coming up

Eclipse season brings us difficult but important lessons. Whatever patterns are coming through right now are giving you super important information about how to move through the next six months. It's not a great time to make a big change, but it is a great time to note the big changes that need to be made. Feel through what that change could mean, meditate on it, process it, but don't act until the fog of eclipse season has cleared if you can help it.

Reminder: This, too, shall pass. Feel through it, but don’t let it hold you forever.
