Rebranding with Ease

We all know the feeling when a rebrand goes awry. You have a vision for how to rebrand your business or offer to make it 10x better. You and your team have worked hard for months, and you think everything is ready. You hit publish… and you get 515 people all sending you screenshots of the little things that you forgot to update, questions that should have been answered on the sales page, and unforeseen tech issues. I just went through three rebrands: one for my own business and two for my clients, and I can tell you that I know that chaos all too well. With all I’ve learned over the past month, I’ve decided to share my secrets. Read on to learn how to avoid chaos while maximizing your success!

Stage 1 - Creating the Vision

This is honestly my favorite stage. This is when we get to dream big, and everything feels possible. It’s important to give yourself plenty of space & time to dream. Rushing this stage can lead to decision fatigue, which is the last thing you need at the beginning of your journey. Take breaks and focus on the fun!

Stage 2 - Assembling Your Rebrand Team & Making a Timeline
This is where you get to outline your budget for the project, meet with all your favorite designers, copywriters, project managers, lawyers, and thinkers, and share your vision for the rebrand! Unless you already have someone in mind, I recommend asking your business friends for their recommendations and interviewing a few people for each role so you have a variety to choose from! Once you hire them, ask what the timeline for their part of the project will be and build out a timeline. My best advice is to give yourself and your team at least twice the amount of time they suggested because delays and issues almost always come up.

Stage 3 - Internal Launch

This is what I call the stage of updating all the tech and announcing the rebrand to your current clients. This stage gives you a bit of breathing room for any last-minute updates before sharing your rebrand with the world! My recommendation is to go through all your tech, tools, webpages, etc. and list everywhere the old name/price/deliverables/etc. are listed so you know everywhere that will need to be updated rather than just winging it!

Stage 4 - Public Launch & Celebration

You finally get to announce the rebrand to the world! It’s time to invite your entire audience to celebrate with you. Make sure to pat yourself and your team on the back. This can be as simple as taking yourself out to a nice dinner or hosting a huge launch party, but whatever you do, celebrate all the hard work that went into this project!

Reminder: Every rebrand will look different. There will likely be things that don't go as planned or that one thing you forget to update till someone points it out two months later.

Be patient with yourself and your team throughout this process, and make sure to take time to rest & enjoy the journey.

You can do this!
